Product Review: Hammer Made

A boutique style menswear store in Edina, Mn. Directed by founder Jason Hammerberg, the company designs and sells limited run men's shirts and accessories in a wide range of hand-picked fabrics. By maintaining close relationships with high quality mills and manufacturers they are able to cut out the middle man and sell great shirts at a great price.

I recently had the opportunity to receive and review one of the many shirts Hammer Made has to offer. I simply had to e-mail my address and measurements.

After referring to the size chart provided on the Hammer Made Online Shop I had my wife help me take some simple measurements from this online guide which I then sent to Dawn Hardrict of Hammer Made who has been working with me on this project. A few days later I received this great shirt.

My measurements lined up almost exactly with those provided on the site so I was excited to try on the shirt. Thankfully, the fit was almost perfect. The sleeve length as well as the length of the sides, front and back are spot on. This makes it very wearable both tucked in or untucked. I also think the spread collar is perfect, being very sturdy on its own as well as offering a slot for collar stays.

My only concern was the width of the shirt in the mid body. Being ever so slightly looser than I personally prefer, considering my slender build. So, I simply took the Woven in Italy, 100% Cotton shirt and tossed it in the wash, set the dial to warm instead of cold and pressed start, hoping for it to tighten up just a bit. When finished I hung it on a hanger to dry overnight.
The shirt now fits me perfectly, no exceptions.

Pros:
Attention to detail
Sturdy spread collar and cuffs
Comfortable material
Great overall fit and finish

Cons:
Minor pilling after washing

Overall, this shirt is great and easily a new favorite in my wardrobe. I definitely wouldn't mind picking up a few more.
